…Moose, Snow & Lights!

After checking out the Christmas in Ice event, B & I made our way down the road to our favorite Chena State Park lake to do some snow shoeing.  Now, it was cold. B reminded me that even kindergarteners here go out for recess when it’s -20. It’s true. I had no rebuttal, if a kindergartener could do it, so could I!

Much to my delight, on our way in we passed a Moose!  My delight because we didn’t happen upon it on the trail (they apparently aren’t as friendly as one would want them to be) but even moreso because I love seeing Moose!

We then hit the trails, bundled up so that I couldn’t imagine putting another layer on me. Once we got going, it was beautiful and warm enough under the layers…

48-P1090669I turned down Bs challenge to make a snow angel — but when I countered, he accepted!  Turned out the hardest part was getting up without ruining the snow angel while wearing snow shoes.

…when we got back to the car I discovered that indeed I had exceeded the expectations of a kindergarteners recess; it was -26! (to which B replied, ‘only by six degrees’)
