B & I spent the Saturday after Thanksgiving out and about in North Pole! As I understand it, the very place in the US that receives Santa’s mail; presumably home to a portal for transporting it the rest of the way. North Pole is itself fun…the street lights are candy canes and you turn on roads named Santa Claus Lane, Holiday Drive and Snowman Lane. Even the McDonalds sign has candy cane stripes!
It is also home to the Santa Claus House, the site of the annual Christmas in Ice ice carving event. It was cold…but fun to see the start of the event which goes through the new year. It was the start of the small block ice carving competition so many carvers were out & getting going on their pieces.
We were even able to enjoy zipping down the massive ice slides, before B got me some hot cocoa!
We continued on our outing in North Pole and went snow shoeing (I’ll put those pics in another post) and then returned to see the ice lit up in the dark; beautiful! It was even colder, at about -26, but the ice carvers were still working away.
PS – we also stopped by to visit the Santa House Reindeers
