As I was heading to bed last night, I realized that the aurora’s were out.  Apparently I’d missed some terrific displays earlier, and of course missed many after I went to bed as well…B reminds me that we’re here for a while and will have many opportunities to see them. True.  But in this case I couldn’t help but bundle up for a brief stint in the cold pre-sleep to track a band of green that rose over the trees & up in to the sky.

I’m sure we’ll be making a weekend excursion out of the valley sometime soon to try again to see them for real, but in the mean time I’ll practice taking pictures in the dark from home!  It does indeed seem that as the temps continue their descent, we get clearer and more dramatic night skies.  Do you see the stars?  Look for the (big?) dipper we always see from here!
