We have persisted in getting out to kayak whenever possible. We’ve stretched it pretty far, but think even that will quickly be coming to a close as temperatures continue to drop…
Though trees are now barren, golden leaves gone from the birches, the color is not gone. The sun creates amazing displays across the water, sky, and trees. Some times the sky is lit up in oranges and reds. Some times the reflections look so real it’s disorienting. Some times the setting sun lights up the trees in an orange so full of fire it’s hard to remember that in reality they are white trees.. & To top it off…one day when paddling down a dead end channel, we got to break through ice..producing a very loud and very satisfying crunch!
Here are a bunch of pictures from a few of our recent trips out and about…at Chena State Park
A last few pictures — not from Chena State Park, but from heading up Chena Rd…a couple weeks ago we headed out to check out various camping / kayaking spots heading up the river out of town a bit. A lot of great territory to cover, hopefully in some fair weather camping! We set in in one spot, to find a very hardy current so didn’t last terribly long. Though we did end the day with a lovely dip in our good ole hot springs at the end of the road!
