I’ve been looking at the sky often these days…knowing the northern lights are out there, even if I’m often asleep when the appear.  It’s one of the benefits to the dark and cold sinking in around us, right?  Of course, it’s been pretty cloudy and rainy…but I’ve seen them in glimpses. Not the terrific displays I saw here this past january (so hopefully my pictures of them will only improve!), but streaks of green in the sky above the house & faint glows in the distance.

It felt fitting that last night after B & I became “Alaskans” (by definition of the DMV at least, we will likely never meet the criteria of a true “sourdough” as they say), I succeeded in having my camera present and actually capturing the aurora glow across our little dirt road.  It was only slightly visible to the eye among the clouds…but it was there!
