It is beautiful here.

And for a while at least, we got to enjoy warmer weather activities.

When we arrived early August it was in the 80s; that quickly turned to 60s…and then just 5 weeks after we arrived it began freezing overnight.  So when the rain didn’t prevent us we continued in our traditional fashion: finding water to kayak on during the weekend and sometimes after work, and venturing into the woods nearby to explore what will later become our snow shoe and cross country ski trails.

Our inaugural kayak trip was just about an hour south at Harding Lake. It was a brisk day, but a fun lake to try out and get our kayaks Alaska-wet!  It’s a large lake, with shallow waters around the edge, beautiful rocks below.
